☀️ The Summer Solstice on the 20th June marks the longest day and shortest night of the year. Where the suns light and power is at its strongest.
☀️Summer Solstice means to ‘Stand still’ to take a moment to pause at the half way point. A time to rest from the busy sowing of seeds and growing from Spring. A time of celebration and joy. Also known as Litha, Litha is derived from the Anglo-Saxon word for "midsummer.
☀️ Fire holds a significant role during Litha, symbolising purification, transformation, and the height of solar energy.
☀️ The sun is seen as a powerful symbol of vitality, strength.
☀️Traditionally. bonfires are lit to be gathered around with friends and family, and small fires were sometimes jumped over in a symbolic gesture of stepping through the portal from one part of the year to another. Jumping over a fire also symbolises leaving behind the old and embracing new beginnings.
☀️ Summer Solstice marks a checkpoint, to look back on the last 6 months. To express gratitude to release anything holding us down but to also call back all the parts of ourselves where we have given too much away. Our time for example. To look at the next half of the year and who we want to be in 6 months time.
🌕 Full Moon in Capricorn allows us to get clear on what we no longer want and put plans in place for the future. This is a time to look back at not just the last month but the last 6 months as we are now half way through the year. To celebrate and express gratitude for what has been and look at any disappointment and what tweaks we can make or big changes even to get ourselves back on track.
